START EVENTS
PRIVACY &
COOKIES POLICY.
How we handle your information and give you control over cookies and analytics.
Last Updated: 5 October 2026
This Privacy & Cookies Policy explains how Start Events handles personal information when you use our website, contact us or deal with us about our events and services. It also explains the choices you have about cookies and analytics.
Who We Are
Start Events (“we”, “us” and “our”) is a UK live-events promoter. We operate this website and promote live entertainment across the UK. We are responsible for deciding how personal information we collect for our own activities is used (the “data controller”). You can contact us about privacy at info@startevents.co.uk.
Information We May Collect
- Enquiries and correspondence: your name, email address, telephone number and any other information you choose to provide through a contact form, email or other enquiry.
- Event and business dealings: information needed to handle an event enquiry, booking, customer query or working relationship, including relevant correspondence and transaction records where applicable.
- Basic technical information: information such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested pages and access times, which may be recorded by our hosting service to operate and protect the website.
- Analytics information, if you accept analytics: information about visits and interactions with the website, such as pages viewed and ticket-link clicks, collected through Google Analytics as explained below.
Please only send information relevant to your enquiry, and avoid including sensitive personal information unless it is needed. Providing enquiry details is generally your choice, but we may be unable to respond or arrange a service without the information needed to do so.
How and Why We Use Your Information
Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for using personal information. The basis depends on what we are doing:
- Legitimate interests: to respond to general enquiries, manage our business relationships and events, keep appropriate correspondence records, and operate and protect our website. Our interests are running a small events business, providing useful support and preventing misuse. We consider your rights and reasonable expectations when relying on this basis.
- Contract: where necessary to provide a service agreed with you, manage a booking or take steps you request before entering into a contract.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep records or use information to meet legal requirements, such as accounting and tax obligations.
- Consent: for optional Google Analytics, and for any other activity where we ask for and rely on your permission.
Sharing Information and Service Providers
We may share relevant information with service providers who help us run our website and business, such as hosting, email and IT providers, and professional advisers. Google provides our optional analytics service. Where needed to handle an enquiry, booking or event, we may also share relevant details with a venue, ticketing provider or event partner. We limit sharing to what is needed for the purpose.
We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to deal with a legal claim. Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this involves a transfer of personal information for which we are responsible, we must use an appropriate lawful transfer arrangement and safeguards where required.
Tickets and External Websites
Our ticket links often take you to a venue or third-party ticketing provider to complete your purchase. Those services have their own privacy and cookie policies, which you should check before providing information or buying tickets. Following a ticket link does not automatically give Start Events your payment-card details.
Depending on the event and booking arrangements, we may receive or handle relevant customer or ticket information to support an event, answer a query or fulfil a booking. Where we do, we use it for the relevant purpose and handle it in line with this policy and any additional privacy information provided at the time.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected. This may include dealing with an enquiry, managing an ongoing relationship, keeping necessary business records or resolving a dispute. Some records need to be kept longer to meet legal or accounting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove identifying details where appropriate.
Keeping Information Secure
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Access is limited to people and providers who need it for their work. No website, email service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Cookies & Analytics
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar browser storage can also remember information between visits. We distinguish between essential storage needed for the website and optional analytics.
Essential Cookies and Storage
We use essential cookies or browser storage where necessary for the site to work and to remember your consent choice. Remembering whether you accepted or rejected analytics allows the website to respect that decision on later visits. This storage is used for that essential purpose and does not require you to accept analytics.
Optional Google Analytics (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the website and help improve Start Events. It can help us understand which pages are useful and how visitors interact with links, including links to tickets. It uses cookies and related information about website activity, browsers and devices.
Analytics only runs after you choose to accept analytics. You can reject analytics and continue to use the website normally. Your choice is remembered in your browser; if you clear that storage or use a different browser or device, you may be asked again.
We do not use analytics cookies for advertising on this website. If that changes, we will update this policy and the consent setup before introducing that use. For information about Google's handling of data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Changing or Withdrawing Your Choice
You can reopen Cookie settings from the footer at any time to change your choice or withdraw analytics consent. Rejecting or withdrawing analytics stops analytics and removes accessible first-party Google Analytics cookies where practical. If analytics is already running, the page refreshes to stop it. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies and manage site storage. Blocking essential storage may affect some website functions or prevent your consent choice from being remembered. Our Cookie settings control this website; they do not change the choices you make on external venue or ticketing websites.
Your Data Protection Rights
Under UK GDPR, depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis being used, you may have the right to:
- Ask for access to your personal information and a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Ask us to erase information where there is no longer a valid reason to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests because of your particular situation, and object to direct marketing at any time.
- Receive certain information in a portable format, or ask for it to be transferred to another provider, where portability applies to automated processing based on consent or contract.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, including through Cookie settings for analytics.
To make a request, email info@startevents.co.uk. We may need to check your identity before releasing or changing information. We normally respond within one month; where the law allows an extension, we will explain why. These rights are subject to legal conditions and exemptions, so we may sometimes need to retain information or continue particular processing.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator. Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or call 0303 123 1113. You can contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern, but you do not have to do so before contacting the ICO.
Children's Privacy
This website is intended for a general audience and is not aimed specifically at children. We do not seek personal information from children through our enquiry forms. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should not be held, please contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our website, services or legal requirements change. The date above shows when it was last updated. Where a change needs a new consent choice, we will ask for it through the relevant consent process.
